Hi,

i am a bird photographer and been visiting this page to gather more knowledge on camera and lenses. Currently I own Nikon D7100 with sigma 300mm f2.8 lens, which is going a great job but as you know 300mm is not enough for birding and image quality with 1.4tc is not great.

Hence planning to upgrade my lens to either of the above. I know cost wise sigma is expensive and I am ready spend up to $6000.

Nikon lenses are always better in sharpness but 200-500 is not prime.

Or should I buy Nikon and upgrade my camera to D500?

i am also looking at used Nikon prime 500mm f4 but since my birding involves lot of trekking carrying my gear, what would you suggest ?

Please help.

Thanks!

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
